The gift that keeps on giving yoga retreat August 5-15 2013
Come join us for the most amazing Surf-Yoga retreat at Monty's surf lodge, a rustic hide-away on Nicaragua's gorgeous north Pacific coast, just on the edge of the traditional fishing village of Jiquilillo. Our all-inclusive surf, yoga and dance retreat provides the opportunity for guests to truly relax, slow down, and experience living in the present moment. You will have a chance to do two yoga classes daily, a yoga workshop and surf lessons during the week plus other surprises. Do as much or as little as you like! Our intention is to share an authentic taste of Nicaragua making for a truly memorable and enriching visit. Watch the sun rise and set from our beach front platform listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, or surf through sunset and enjoy watching the sun melt away into the Pacific. We strongly believe that fresh air, sunshine, seclusion, and the beauty of the ocean can take your yoga practice to places you’ve never imagined. Live your destiny. Life is too complicated and too short...eat well, be good to yourself, practice yoga.
Your day may look like this:
Yoga, Surfing, walk on the beach
Community service or Excursion
Afternoon activities (massages, siestas, hang out on the beach)
Afternoon Let Your Yoga Dance
Cocktails and Salsa lesson or games...
What makes this different from any other retreat is the community service. There are many to choose from, as with all the available excursions. Some of the options are:
1. Estuary Boat Tour.. The Padre Ramos Estuary is one of the largest mangrove reserves in Central America. Migrating birds from all around the world come to stay. You will also learn about the importance of the mangrove to the area, the wildlife including clams, turtles, fish and the people! It is a protected area and one of the starred things to see if you come to Nicaragua. We will stop at one spot and go for a beautiful swim and walk along the beach. Maybe even do some beach yoga at sunset :)
2. Cerro Negro Volcano and Leon.. This is a day trip and hike up Cerro Negro (black hill) Volcano. It takes about 45 minutes to hike up this active volcano, feel the energy and heat at the top, then slide down on sandboards on the volcanic ash. It takes about 20 seconds to go down. Then we shower off and head to Leon, a colonial city, for lunch. Guests pay for lunch. In the center of Leon is the most beautiful cathedral in Central America that guests can see. And also people can go for a walk around and see the market before heading home for sunset.
3. Orphanage. Near Montys is an amazing orphanage that we can tour, play with the kids, and even do some organic gardening with them to help out. This is just a fifteen minute drive from the surf camp
Other daily activities avaiable are
Ocean Sports: Surfing Lessons and board rentals included (surfboard, paddle boards, & surf kayaks).
Other Adventures : Horseback riding, deep sea fishing (cost to guest)
Hiking a volcano
Day trip to Leon or Chinandega
